I think I have that hosta
My hosta fields are in the woods, and we have plenty of deer in there.  I use Deer Stopper by Messina Wildlife.  I buy it at Home Depot, and I buy it in the pump container (not the spray container shown below).

Deer stopper is Organic and it smells good when it is being applied.  I use the mint smell that you get at application time to guage if I have put enough down in a given area.

I find that cutting it down works for me and keeps my costs down,  I pour 75% out of the container and mix with water and they I spray the edges of my gardens and I spray some of the hosta that I know the Deer go for.  I put an application down once a month in the summer (more if it rains a lot) and I monitor for deer damage.

They make a ribbon product as well but I have not yet tried it. It is on my list of things to test on the gardens this spring so that I can set up a perimeter.
