Rodney, it was such a pleasure to meet you! I had no idea how many varieties of Hostas existed! Thank you for your patience in walking us through the Hostas and choosing the ones that will work best for us. We found your extensive knowledge to be very impressive and it was a fantastic learning experience. We have them all planted in their new homes now and they are thriving. We will most certainly be back to see you again!

Best Regards,
Bobbee Valentine and Brad Fanger
I am very happy to tell you that my hostas (your hostas) are doing amazing. They have done so well that some of them have doubled in size. I was so excited to see them pop through the ground and welcome the Spring weather. The ribbon grass is just beautiful, thank you for telling me about them.

I want to thank you so much for the garden coaching, garden design and assistance that you gave to my family and me when creating our new outdoor room. My husband and I were so impressed that you really took the time to listen to us and encompassed all of our needs and desires into your design. We love the fact that you took into account our full sun space, our low-maintenance attitude toward gardening, and left room for us to pick out plants too! We also love the fact that you also incorporated the help of our daughters when planting and picking flowers for our new spot. Our 5 year old has affectionately named our new space the “Peace Garden,” it has truly become part of our family, and a central place that we can gather when outdoors. We can’t thank you enough for all you did for us!
Sprague Family
Rodney's Notes from the Sprague Family project: The Sprague Family was really great to work with, they put a lot of energy into this project. They wanted to be in the garden and not always working in the garden. This is also a water wise garden, once the plants are established they will get what they need from mother nature in terms of water (saving time and energy)
The main factor in the makeover of this garden was the fact that the garden was shallow and on top of ledge. I took one big garden and split it into three gardens by removing soil in some areas to expose walking paths using the natural ledge; the ledge went from being an issue to being a major feature. The three gardens were mounded to create beds that would give us the depth required to survive being on top of solid ledge in the baking heat. We used high quality composted soil and we utilized a lot of existing plants on the property to save money
The first garden was named the heights garden, using some of the great granite that was already on the property and selecting perennials that would really give the garden some height. The second garden is the color garden, getting color from the entire plant, not just the flowers (bright yellows and purples). The third garden is what I called the perennial garden, which contains the sitting stone to allow the family to come in and sit down in the garden and enjoy what they renamed as the peace garden
It will take a couple of years for the plants to fill in (and gain their height), but the foundation is all there and additional space is available as they find new plants that they like. The new gardens were installed in one day (the John Deere front loader sped the hardscaping componets of the projects up) and the entire family was involved in the project
My favorite feature of these made over gardens is the natural ledge walking trails, it draws you into the gardens allowing you to view them from many perspectives.....you can now truely get into these gardens and it brings the project into scale.
